Ghosts of Abiquiu No. 1

This painting was inspired by my travels throughout New Mexico where I had the opportunity to visit Ghost Ranch near the tiny village of Abiquiu. This magical place was once the home and studio of Georgia O’Keeffe as well as the subject of many of her paintings. I was awe-struck by the beauty of the multi-layered cliff walls that surrounded the area. These magnificent formations seemed almost surreal as they changed colors from red to golden depending on the lighting and the time of day. The painting continues around the 1.5″ sides of this gallery-wrapped canvas making it ready to hang.
